A collegue of mine recently returned a pair of these back to the tyre shop , he insisted that on a wet terain it was a nightmare .
He now wants to test the new Bridgestone '' BATTLAX T30 '' ...... he is very weird person i guess
BATTLAX BT-30 is road only though.

Doesn't that depend on the size of your "Cohones" (or the inverse size of your brain)
Quite true SB. I was reading about a fellow who rode around the world on an R1 with road tyres, terrain differences notwithstanding.

Nick Sanders, I've met him a couple of times. Nice bloke, very interesting, but...........
Nope. I think it was Sjaak Lucassen, also known as R1 Sjaak. He has done this trick mutliple times... Actually he started his first around the world venture known as Fireblade Sjaak on a Honda Fireblade in 1995-1997, till Honda decided NOT to sponsor him, and Yamaha thought: "This could be interesting!"
I dont think they're playing in the same league !
Sjaak Lucassen - Fireblade World tour 3 years, R1 world tour 5 1/2 years
Nick Saunders - 7 World Tours, fastest = 31 days

Hats off for commitment, just shows what one can do with any type of bike. However, I doubt whether both Sjaak Lucassen and Nick Saunders had a comfortable ride.

Precisely my friend, the main reason for a succesfull adventurous or just a simple ride out is YOU (the rider) !
How capable you are to ride in every weather condition or terain . If you are not then sorry , but you will never enjoy it despite the best type of tyres and the best moto equipment that you have choosen .
I remember reading, some years ago, about this guy's world tour on a GoldWing (1200 IIRR)
http://www.emilioscotto.com/bio.htmlBack to topic. I don't like road tyres for my Vara. Their performance is beyond my capabilities, so I felt as happy with a Pilot Road as I feel with an Anakee II, which is cheaper and lasts longer IMO.
Greetings,
Josep
The Still alive tour of mostly minor roads, Alpine and lowland but all weathers except snow was on BT 30 Battlax. Used before starting but unknown mileage (on when bought at 8k miles so probably 2nd set) no real visible wear after 4,000 km (2,500 miles). Enough grip in the wet for me and plenty in the dry to welly up and down mountain passes 2-up and show a few BM uu s the way.
New bike has Trailwing 152 s which at 4000 miles, I assume are OEM and show a little wear. I haven't really pushed these at all, I'm not that kind of rider but they feel sure footed enough in wet or dry.If you don't know these, they are chunky enough to have some off road aspirations but as I only go off road into the pub car park, I can't comment on that.

Your report is very interesting my dear friend Jack.I assume that Battlax will be an excellent choice for us in the near future.

@Athanman, it's a long time since we had this discussion but I had to check my post to be sure of the BT30s. Events since and lots of reports and experience, means that my 'Death Wings' will have to go before their time and Bridgestone, the culprits, will get no more of my money, however good the BT30s are.
Anakees it seems have the popular vote.

Jack i remember our discussion but it seems finally that you weren't so satisfied as you were expecting to be . My Contis Trail attack 2 as Two Plugs has reported in the past to us , still surprising me and make me feel confident and safe in all terain and ofcourse in every weather conditions. The death wings have now flew away and the Anakees now are waiting for you to test them and share with us your report in the near future my friend.
Think Trail Attack are very good tires, but they don't make a lot of kilometers ... The eternal dilemn
