Hi all you there,
Yesterday while changing my spark plugs I ran into an irritating problem.
The changing of the outer spark plugs was quite simple due to their accessibility.
The hidden ones are more like a nightmare.
There is little room to work and when I wanted to pull up the coil (?) the rubber 'hat' just broke in 2 pieces and the plastic tube inside snapped.
Has anybody an idea how I take on this problem?
Many thanks in advance,
Bruno - Bruvex - Van Loo
PS: I wish you all a happy, healthy and covid-less 2021!
I also had this problem - it broke.
Just crush and blast compressed air to the outside.
Thanks for your reply Bogdan.
I’ll have a try next week.
Update.
I don't have compressor at home so I couldn't use the solution proposed by Bogdan.
Since both the coils were damaged I punctured 2 wholes at the outside and lifted them out with two 'pins' (like a screw-driver ending on a small point) using a small piece of wood for some leverage.
Next time I'll drive with the spark-plugs until they really start to malfunction.
They're iridium ones (the old and the new) and looking at them I expect they will last longer than 56000 klms.
Greetings,
Bruvex
i had one rubber come apart as well, so luckily i could glue it back together with engine gasket silicone, let that dry, then applied a layer right round it. it works fine, but know if i take it off again it will need replacing.
