Maybe a silly remark, but it would have been wise to leave home with good tires... Unless... did you have a puncture?
On the French Varadero forum is a English International section for help travelling through France.
Dear Bernard,
First of all, we got home all back in safe.
Thanks for the good advice, but look at the facts:
We left home with 8 bikes, 6 had Michelin Anakee 3, and 2 had Pirelli Scorpions.
Each run a few thousands of kilometers.
The two Pirellis had a short tour to Austria and Slovakia, and a longer to Bosnia and Montenegro, whit a summ of 3500 kilometers.
On my Varadero I changed each tyre set at 12.000 km (I used 7 sets. Bridgestone, Metzeler, Michelin...)
We planed to take 4500 km in this tour (Hungary, Slovenia, Austria, Italy, France), so We should get home with tires run maximum 8500 kilometers.
And gess what? Those Pirellis couldn't run even 6500 kilometers!!!
Here's a picture of the Pirelli Scorpion at the end of its life:
