Hello
Anyone know if the crf 1000L Africa Twin rear shock will fit a 2001 xl1000
Thanks
Ian
1st impression is that it will be much too long; much more travel on the CRF ...
and think shocks are differrents between SD04 (2016/17) and SD06 (2018/19)
Hello
Hope your all well 👍
Anyone know what the difference is between the non abs and abs rear shocks
Thanks
52400MBTC51 ref for ABS models
52400MBTD22 ref for non-ABS models
so differents models ; preload scroll wheel is different (and on the other side it seems to me - the varaderos are far) perhaps some others "evolution"
Have just fitted a rear shock off a cb1000r. About 40 mm shorter but I had changed the triangles to make it lower. So just put the standard ones back on, the right height now , never going to use it off road so a bit less travel won’t hurt. Not ridden it yet but will let you know how it goes. Only cost £30 with 4 thousand miles so like new.
Didn’t fancy paying loads for a new one
Well just been out for a ride 👍😀🏍 the bike handles so much better, cheaper alternative if you have little legs like me 😂😂
Hi I just want to confirm, you fitted a cb1000r rear shock to your Varadero and it improved the ride and made the bike more accessible/usable for you (rear height wise)? Would this work for an 08 model Vara as well? I haven't ridden mine yet (Canadian winters and all) and am in need of a seat so cannot say for sure if my height will be a concern with getting feet on the ground but at 5' 10" there was some concerns from what I've read!
Hello,
The original shock was worn out and I didn’t want to spend a fortune on a new shock/spring so started looking at other options, this one was £30 second hand . I have a 29 inch inside leg so needed to lower the bike which is what this shock/spring combo did. It was about 30 mm shorter than standard, I don’t know if it handles any better than a good original shock would .
Hope this helps
