Which part of this atlantic road is most stunning to ride? Is that the part between Kristiansund and Molde?
All of it, you can say, as The Atlantic Road it self only goes for 6,4 km
. It´s part of the national road number 64 between Molde and Kristiansund, but The Atlantic Road is only the part between Averøy and the peninsula where Molde is located. It jumps from one rock to another, either by bridge or by dam.

I´ve been riding The Atlantic Road twice, the first time was in February 2008 in connection with a 12 days trip to Norway for the Krystall-Rally and the Primus-Meeting.
The second was on a week-trip I did at the time I was living in Norway, in May 2009.
According to Google Maps a trip from Geiranger to The Atlantic Road and back via Kristiansund (and The Atlantic Ocean Tunnel: 5,7 km, - 250 m
), takes 8 hours, so that could be a nice trip on friday (depending on the time you get up
).

An alternative is to continue from Kristiansund, north on road number 680, via the islands until you reach E39. An extremely nice route, in my opinion, but not so much visited, maybe because of the ferries between the islands and the fact that there are no sights out there, only fabulous nature and wonderful roads
.

For a friday ride this route will take to long, but for those going north after VIM it could be a possibility.
