Hi All, Just had a last fill up and FUELLY calculated 4.8 litres per 100 kilometres anyone got any stories to match that or tell us your best achievement in fuel.
Fire away ..............

since we are an european community we use kilometers and Liters in our measure. MPG only interests the UK part of this fora and could be a subject for the UK varadero forum..

I thought this was an "International" forum...
MPG also applies to Canada. I grew up with gallons, imperial ones at that, not those little U.S. Gallons.
I regularly get 55 MPG unless really really pounding on the throttle.
However be careful calculating your mileage if you have changed sprocket sizes. Even with a speedohealer to keep your speedometer accurate your odometer will be off.
Sorry, ment International in my mind but with European measures..
Metric system.
I don't even now the difference in gallon and gallon

I totally understand what you're saying, just yanking your chain..
We're supposedly metric here to, but I always revert to miles and gallons for fuel consumption. I just can't relate to litres per 100km or km per litre.
Anyone getting 59 mpg from a Vara is either duff at maths or riding the wrong bike !
I remember saying sometime, if x is miles per Imperial gallon and y is litres per 100 km, then
xy=282.481
So 59 mpg = 4.8 l/100km awesome!
Fuel consumption has decreased as newer Varas came out. I believe carburator units need some 7 l/100km, my early injection needs around 6.5 and newer can do under 6 l/100km.
Of course it all depends on your riding style and your roads.
A quick table
7 l/100km = 40.35 mpg
6.5 l/100km = 43.46 mpg
6 l/100km=47.1 mpg
5.5 l/100 km=51.36 mpg
5 l/100km= 56.5 mpg
I understand that modern injected motors are more fuel efficient if you use them at low rpm. My car is always asking me to switch one or two gears more as soon as I get some (quite low IMO) regime.

SKYE....Well said, when your used to thinking MPG it just comes automatic.
Anyways if you click the Fuelly link for me L/100km are displayed avg 6l/100km i believe
@Josep: tnx for the conversion table.
@ all: the metric system is obligate at VCI forum. As mentioned by Magnus!
The US gallon difference from the UK gallon and so on. The metric system is world wide the same standard, even in the UK you'l see liters at the fuel station.
@varaquiero: please change the data in your #1 posting, appreciated.

Thanks for posting up the consumption ready reckoner - a great help for those of us still behind the times by mixing imperial and metric units :/
2001 carby Vara, remarkably consistent at ~45mpg (imp) or 1ltr to 10 miles or ~ 6.3l/100km
A best of 50mpg (once) lowest of 42mpg. Sorry for reverting back to imperial, can't see the chart while typing on the phone!
For a right picture, I would suggest that every member adds the year of manufacturing of his/her Varadero in your profile stats, or write it in the posting. Please see my avatar left as example.
I've got a 2012 ( thats the last model after the last Honda update in 2008 ) and figures of 4,9 L / 100km are not strange! I got the strong impression that Varadero's build from 2008 had some kind of technical update too. Did 1.000 km last weekend in the German Sauerland region, according to the tracklog on my TomTom Rider with an average speed of 60kmh; topping 123kmh at some level. Reffing up the bike uphill, using engine brake downhill. Fueled Aral ultimate 102octane.
Average feul consumption ( note: no motorways included ) 5 L / 100 km...
In Fuelly you can display various units for your signature line....see mine below in L/100km
