Think for more lisibility, we can share here the places to find radar data base.
I'll repost this
http://www.scdb.infoI have already said this but I have used them for the last couple of years on my garmin
Costs about 10 euros a year

Please notice that having a speedcamera / radar database installed on your GPS, is ILLEGAL in most EU countries.
Fines are huge, and GPS equipment will be confiscated when it contains these databases, even when it is switched off.

I never heard such a situation before ?Have you or any of your colleagues ever been punished ?... did they removed the GPS ?
I've only heard in Swizerland it is illegal , and you have a 300CHF fine ....
It' really forbidden in Germany too?
Dutch Automobile Club published an official warning for France and Spain too. I'm not sure about Scandinavian countries. In The Netherlands you are safe. We do everything illegal as legal...
We even broadcast speedtraps (both mobile and stationary) on the national radio...
The 'confiscating' warning is also published by Europes largest automobile club, the German ADAC.
Its not an issue
if there are known cases of confiscated SatNavs. But that it is an fact that having warnings for speedtraps installed, is illegal in most EU countries.
France has passed a new law that says that GPS devices that inform the driver as to the location of speed cameras are illegal and you can be fined, jailed, have your GPS and/or your car confiscated for the simple possession in the car, even if not on! The UK's (UK, that's where you from, Stewart!) AA says "Many countries now stipulate that GPS based navigation systems which have maps indicating the location of fixed speed cameras must have the 'fixed speed camera PoI (Point of interest)' function deactivated."
Many POI sources routinely post such information in their downloadable data sets. You might want to edit them out.
In addition to my previous message above... Strangely, it is LEGAL to carry these informations on a PAPER map...
From the Dutch ANWB (not complete list):
Belgium: Allowed, if the information are retained from a public database.
The Netherlands: Allowed, see Belgium.
Germany: Illegal. Even if the data is carried on an extended memory stick, PDA, tablet, etc. because the possession of an device with 'radar-trap' information is illegal too.
France: the usage of ANY form of radar-trap warning (GPS, PDA, etc) is illegal. Fines are up to (!!!) € 1.500,-.
From the UK AA:
http://www.theaa.com/motoring_advice/overseas/radar-detectors-in-france.htmlAustria: GPS with information is allowed if they are retained from a public database.
Switserland: possession of, and usage of ANY GPS/electronic device carrying data bases for any speed control (both fixed and mobile) is illegal. In January 2007 the Swiss court has issued a new law allowing strict controls for compliance.
Sorry I have to repeat...
In France
- The radar detection devices are absolutely not allowed !!!
- You can have POI's indicating radar position; they are no more radar indication but danger indication and the areas shown are less accurate. (new firmware of your GPS make it automatically )
In addition to Gilles' previous message...
Same goes for Germany. If the POI's are saved in your SatNav as 'Unfallgefährdete Strecken' (Accident hazard route/intersection - native German speakers: please correct...
) it seems to be legal too.
Don't tell the local law enforcement... they will come up with something new...
In Switzerland you will still be crucified, tortured, drawn and quartered no matter how you would call the d*mn warnings...
Hey folks,
just to switch me on this fred.
In Germany it's forbidden to use speed cam warning in navis, but it will be allowed somewhen in the future, as I've read in www.
In my direct neighborhood, in France, I have read - at www - it's allowed.
Is there s.o. who can inform me/us about the regulations in DNK, NOR, SWE
Will be interesting for the travel up to VCIM.
Greetings from the South of Germany
