Does anyone know if a bashplate for the later years will fit a 2001 varadero maybe with small modifications?
I guess yes... We have some in the Dutch club who even customized the Africa Twin solid bashplate for a Varadero.

I saw the black Dero with the AT bash plate. Looks flippen stunning!! But that Dero looked like a mk2 if I'm not mistaken? I'm not sure but I think I saw something to the line of rd07 or something ( not that I have a clue what that'll be..) What year model and size AT's will fit though?
The bike with the Africa Twin bashplate is a MK2 (all Varadero's from 2003-2011). The bashplate is from a RD07 Africa Twin, but since the frame of the Africa Twin never changed (except the RD03 which had a modified Transalp 600 frame) a transplant would be possible / should be possible.
Keep in mind... Africa Twin parts are well searched for... its hard to find any on the WWW / Ebay.
Point take. I've noticed how some of my friends battle to get spares.. That makes them costly too.
Looking at Manne's picture, it seems it would be a good idea to sit down with a few beers, the radio and a couple of cornflake boxes, and prepare for a rainy day in the workshop.
