The last few days im looking for an alternative solution in order not to spend a fortune and buy OHLINS suspensions . A friend of mine who owns BMuu fitted the british Hagon suspension ,in a very attractive price and he is very satisfied so far. I was wondering if any one here in our community fitted Hagon so far in Varadero?Share your thoughts with us .
Thanks in advance
Wilbers (German), WP (Dutch) or Hyperpro (Dutch) are good alternatives for an good price.

You mean that i should avoid the Hagon ?
Well Hagon is cheaper by a €100 euros but it also are fully automatic and you might be necessary to adjust it yourself to your weight and payload.
When I ordered my Wilber shock I found out that there was a lot setting and I really wanted to change the payload so it was similar to the orignal shock. All this costed me 499 € + shipping but buying cheaper had maybe got me regret the purchase. After all it improved the bike so much. But I'm still on a MK1.
It is your choice, Athanman
Hi Athanman,
I replaced my Hagon with an Ohlins and it really made a significant improvement to my MK1. My feeling is to avoid the Hagon as while initially it will be fine, it's build quality is such that it has poor longevity and will need reconditioning much sooner than a better quality shock. It has poor adjustment options too. Hence ultimately it's a 'false economy'. I think Wilbers is a solid halfway house, as I imagine the WP is. I was just about to buy a Wilbers until I happened upon an Ohlins at a 'I just can't refuse it' price!
Lucky (again)
The only difference with öhlins... It is the 'Mercedes' amongst suspension regarding to quality, but they charge you like it is a Mercedes too!
To my modest opinion there is not that much difference in the quality of suspension... They are all good. But the price can be different from brand to brand.

TP, you're right, except in my experience, Hagon an is inferior product. Extending your metephor...
Ohlins = Mercedes
Wilbers = Audi
WP = Volkswagen
Hagon = British Leyland

Reviving this semi old post!
I have a question for those of you that has changed the original rear suspension and especially to those of you who has bought a version that has no hydraulic pre load adjuster. How difficult is it to get to the adjuster ring with the C-spanner tool? Do you need to remove the side pannel or can one get to it any way?
I was in the market for an hyper Pro. Got some good feedback from Skye at the swedish forum on that shock. But when I email them to ask if they make a version with hydraulic preload adjuster, the answer is no! They make it for Bmuuu though. Bummer.
However, I really want to be able to adjust preload in an easy and quick way. Looks like an Ohlin with fatest spec is the only way to go in order to get that function?
So, how much of an hazzle is it to adjust the darn thing?
Regards,
Maua
I'll bow to the others but on my Pan, the 'C' spanner was the only option & the ring is at the bottom so no worse than checking a tyre really.

Well, look at that! Thanks Skye, thougt it was HyperPro.. Sorry! 799 is definately better than 1200 Eur!!
We had a discussion today at the local Honda dealer about if a shock for a SD02 would fit an SD01? They could not answer. When we compared the Öhlins, they appear to be exactly identical. Any one who has insight? Although I have decided to keep this bike you never know. One day that offer that is too good to be true might materialize itself and the it would be great to be able to swap the shock over to the newer bike!
If you look at my link and read it says:
HONDA-XL-1000-V-Varadero-99-03-SD01--SD02-Type--642
Even the headline in shops website says the same:
HONDA XL 1000 V Varadero 99-03 SD01/ SD02 Type: 642
Saw that now, thanks. Good news!
