Hello and welcome here Varaderos!
Seems the Led bulbes is ok for 5W .
You need H4 because of hi/lo positions; for the main bulb (and not H3) ! But a xénon like is very far from a xénon light. I have xénon on my 2 last Vara's ans it is incomparable.
I find the OE main beam head light is VERY good. I have Denali LED's that light up the foreground. Seems a good combination.
I was riding in the dark last night through the mountains with no problem...didn't see any moose
and very little traffic...so a fun ride.

Not entirely treu, Gilles. If you use for example the PIAA H4 bulbs, they are just as good as Xenon and come with a year warranty...!

Agree. Xenon doesn't add anything on the Varadero with its superb headlights. I use 'yellowish' H4 Bulbs (like the old-fashioned Phillips Gold - they are not available any more, unfortunately). The big plus of 'gold' bulbs: they perform A LOT better under fog and rain, and they reflect obstacles in the soft shoulder along the road (roadsigns, pedestrians, etc) much, much better.
And... easy to install, plug and play.
As a motorcyclist, you want to stand up out of the motorist crowd. Especially in Western and Northern Europe where daylight running lights are compulsory and in Scandinavia even obligatory. Every budgetcar has xenon lights these days. Using xenon or regular H4 bulbs, will only make you fade away in the traffic...
Bernard I encourage you to ride with me in the night! You will see the difference
You need a pair of H3 fog lights...

I don't use the PIAA's anymore, but I'm back to the 'gold' bulbs since they perform much better in the ussualy dark, damp and foggy Dutch climate...
The problem which you can't take away with Xenon... you won't stand out of the motorrist crowd. Thats perhaps not an issieu in France, where no one is riding with their carlights switched on during daylight (or even at dusk... or dark...
)
But in f.e. The Netherlands, northern Germany, and Scandinavia its custom (and partly even obligatory!) to ride 24/7 with your lights on. In that case it is important to be noticed, that is also the main reason why I would advice the 'gold' (or Phillips Motorvision) bulbs in stead of xenon - since even every budgetcar has xenon lights these days.
Bernard, which "gold" bulbs do you use, and where do you buy theme? I used to ride with Phillips Goldvision but there nowhere available anymore. Now i have Yellow rally bulbs from 90/130 W, They give a lot of light, but they are illigal for road use in the Netherlands. They also are not as yellow/gold as the goldvision. I prefer more yellow/gold light.
Be careful Mickey you could melt your electric circuit with such a power (2x130W = 260 instead of 2x 60 W ....) with xenon you have 2 x35 W and more light!
thanks for the warning, but i already changed the lights after a short ride.
im looking for yellow lights
