If you want reliability buy a Skoda!
If you want good spec accessories buy GIVI.
Don't know if the Skoda commercial is the same througout Europe, Brian...
But here it always ends with 'Simply Clever'...
Thats why I drive a Skoda (in fact, my 2nd one...
), and mounted SW Motech crashbars on my bike.
Just a couple of pics. I know there are some members who are bored with my posts @Bigdave, so you can skip this, or gloat, it doesn't matter to me.
Work is about to start as apart from the brake pedal, we are ready to go. I see there was a problem with bar end weights, so we'll see what arrives.
115 euro for the pedal seems expensive but having attacked it on the anvil, I can vouch for the quality of the alloy! actually, the 'price' isn't so bad, it's the VAT (IVA or whatever you have) that kills it...20% puts people out of business.
The cosmetics will have to remain a 'work in progress' and an advert for Bridgestone Tyres.
As I said, taken all the 'newness' off that side: like a Batman character.
On the bright side, it was the side that suffered minor damage in 'The Crushed Ribs Incident': can't see those marks at all now.

As long as you came out unhurt everything else is, as you said, cosmetic.
Had a fall on Wednesday myself. Was following a car which braked suddenly on a corner. Bumped into its rear at slow speed but could not keep the bike upright. Down we go on the left - slight scratches on the crash bar, hand guard, mirror and top case. All is mended now. No injuries though. Driver was kind enough to help me lift the bike upright.
Funny... I wasn't aware that Krauser still excisted...
They look pretty solid though!
@Greengiant. Thanks. Generally I'm OK but the pride took a serious beating and may be permanently bruised.
Dealer text this morning, Givi bars and new helmet visor awaiting collection, followed by delivery of footrest hanger from eBay for 20 euro: old model but it's a match! finished major cleaning in dishwasher tonight....and; I straightened the brake pedal enough to fit back. A little good luck for a change.

@Pokemi. Amazing wasn't it ? Even more amazing that it straightened !
No obvious hole in the road surface, just scratch marks that I thought were the footrest but as that broke off, the brake pedal must have 'dug in' immediately and maybe been the second point of contact as the bike slid on.

Collected new tyres today. Choice, as we say in England, like a 'sweet shop'. Spoilt for choice but this is what I decided, confusingly called 'Road Pilot Trail' 2. Old style but still in production! As are ALL the Pilot series. The boss told me he's running out of racking space to show them all. There were some Bridgestone Battlewings at a good price but they will get no more or my pennies!
Bike on ramp; look at that cold forged brake pedal! Just below the VFR footrest.
Collect crashbars tomorrow.
Awaiting new brake lever, bar end weight and forks re-aligning. Beautiful day here in God's own county; hope to be mobile for the weekend.

Unfortunately these incidents happen
Thank God, you got no serious injuries.
Hope you'll get your bike in original state again soon and that you can enjoy biking again!
Season has just started so there are many nice trips to look forward to!
Speedy recovery and best regards!

Givi every time they work well and look better.
http://vk.kuvat.fi/kuvat/TDM/Varadero/Varadero%20vas%20kylki.jpgAbaut 30-40km/h speed at city. (city was cleaning dust from the road and they use some sh*** what makes road slippery)
I fell left side, Driving suit, helmet, left Side case alunimium sw-motech and left krauser crash-bar had taken the bigger damages..
I lift up varadero and continue driving..
Nice to know you are fine.
Ah I remember when I had a sliding accident with my first vara with no crash bars.
Fairings are expensive if you compare that to the scratched crash bars.
Did you bend the clutch or the panniers took all the damage ?
@VKO82. as I was told, just battle scars; really annoying though as I can see what a smart machine before. I had already committed to buy the bars and change the tyres but it was such a nice day!
Are those tyres Metzler Tourance and have you had any other incidents with them?
Do you not have a claim against the street cleaners for the damage?
Givi has joined the ranks of my least favoured suppliers today; by dint of the replacement helmet visor euros 46.00! Previously, euros 32.00 was enough.
Secondly, new pre-crashed crash bars; wrapped in metres and metres of bubble plastic and shrink wrapped, when we freed them they were already damaged and not in transit. Photo is one of five scars. Ah well. Weather forecast good for Friday..Michelins on and ready.
