French regulation - helmets reflective stickers

There is nothing wrong with helmet stickers, I put them on mine even before I knew it was a law in France. Some enhance the looks of it, I like to get mine from www.reflectivedecals.com (the chequered ones).

I like to a) be seen from all angles and potentially avoid an accident and b) if I come off to be seen and avoid being run over by a following tin box driver. Yes, I do ride at nights and rubbish weather, too.

Some laws actually do make sense - I think about that every time a see a reduced speed limit sign in a school zone.

@djcat  They look pretty good. How do you find the prices and postage from them? I've had some bad deals with US companies.

I have found at the (www louis .de ) and also at the e-bay. There are too many different types of reflective stickers , cant decide .

This is an interesting debate.

Some recent research work the Motorcycle Safety Advisory Council of New Zealand undertook, contracting TRL from England, showed hi viz to be good, but not good enough in all conditions to warrant making high viz a mandatory intervention.  From a conspicuity perspective (making you as visible as possible) running additional lights, especially daytime running lights in a Tee or V configuration is better. 

Having said that, some hi viz on helmets is not a bad idea, personally I would go for the single finger salute myself  ;D

I will chat with them in Lower Saxon and play the stupid tourist. I am very good in that. And I will kindly wave with my Dutch voluntary police permit. According to EU legislation, French regulations which are different than EU standard can be only put in force on French civilians. They can not be imposed on motorists from outside France as their motor-vehicle / clothing is measuring up to the laws in the EU country of origin. France is to my knowledge, member of the EU. Even a bad mooded overzealous Gendarme is not allowed to act against this  ;). That would be illegal.

@TP, quite right.....but, they manage to enforce HV jackets in the cars and the ridiculous 'spare light bulb pack'.
