Stella Alpina will (surely) be held on next 12-14 July , near Bardonecchia (Italy) to the Sommeiller pass (https://www.google.com/maps/place/Col+du+Sommeiller/@45.1356777,6.7065999,11z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x4789be341470694b:0x5979a055403551cd!8m2!3d45.135635!4d6.846678) - bivouac near Rifugio Scarfiotti (2165 m osl)
the late date (mid July), and the fact there is not to much snow this year, can be a chance to ride up to the pass (3009 M OSL).
A chance to meet if you want to live a special week-end VCIF_ThumbUp

Had been there last year.
But in September with beautiful sunshiny weather.
My advice, go there when it's not rainy and/or snowy, if you don´t need the circus around the Stella Alpina.

difference doing it alone or during the meeting is the ambience: a very nice and friendly moment with a lot of differents nationalities : something like a VIM, but in the middle of nowhere and fantastic site ! VCIF_ThumbUp

No because it is an "unofficial" meeting (but will be 54th edition) .. you can surely find some site or organization which try to make some money around this event VCIF_salut

Stella Alpina 2019 will be held in less then 1 month from now (and if we are still in Lithuania- not thinking too much to it ); Seems some (eminent) member of this community showed his interest ; if there is some more person(s) interested let us now, and meet there not far from now. a friendly experience too VCIF_salut VCIF_ok

were on 30.6.19 with Enduro above. A first snowbarrier the top of the rock level above the Rifugio is probably also for Jeeps passable. Another (before coming up into the high valley) is easy to drive around with light Enduros, certainly not with cars. The last slope with the serpentines is completely under snow, somehow abbreviate through the rubble not possible.

News from the Stella Alpina!
The 54th Stella Alpina International Motorcycling Meeting will take place on Sunday 14th July.
The road, at present, is passable up to Lake Patarč but the Municipal Administration of Bardonecchia will remove the snow up to the Colle del Sommeiller.
Until Sunday 14 the road will be passable freely, from Monday 15 will have to pay the toll.
Possibility of camping near the Grange Picreaux and the Rifugio Scarfiotti (equipped with public chemical toilets and bins for waste collection) with a prayer: not to park the bikes in the pastures.
We also ask you to moderate the speed, along the Sommeiller road, in order to limit the risks of accidents, dust, noise and the lifting and throwing of stones with the rear wheel.
Furthermore, to avoid the usual criticism of motorcyclists, we strongly urge you to avoid exits and cuts off the carriage road.

Saturday, July 13, at 4 pm, in the churchyard of the Parish of Bardonecchia, in Borgo Vecchio, the parish priest Don Franco will bless the bikes: we hope for a large presence of motorcyclists!
