Givi outback trekker 437/48
« on: November 28, 2014, 04:13:46 »
Greetings everybody,
would like to ask if  anyone here tried the aluminium trekker side case by givi, any reviews?  Also, does the side case holder PL177 fit with them or not? I think the pl177 got 3 fixing points but the outback videos on the net shows 4 fixing points!  Thanks in advance. ..

You need specific holders for Trekker. They are "cam-side" support, and not sure they are available for Varadero ...  :-[

You are absolutely right Zebulon!  The outback trekkers need a PL _ _ Cam. And it's not available for varadero as far as I see over the net :(

You can load trekker (non outback) on monokey PL holders.  ???

I'm absolutely not sure Givi develop holders for non unavailable bikes...

Sure, the non aluminium trekker will do on the PL177.
The strange thing why did givi change the mounting technique for the monkey? ! and if their R&D proved it's a must why not considering an adapter for obsolete mounting technique? Do they belive a  customer should change ride for the sake of their new product, or they don't even give a S#*t to the older bikes interested owners... Sometimes marketers need competition pinchs to realise Facts!

No, I think I know they have changed because of solidity. Trekker Outback are off-road designed and they're done with 18 mm diameter tubing ... For the other holders it is thiner  ;)
They continue to develop new products (trekker) on old mounts.

You have to consider about SW Motech adapters; they make a lot perhaps for Trekker outback ...

I have bought a Givi Trekker Outback top case and that has the same 3 point fitment as the Trekker side case which was on there before I changed it.
I am not 100% sure that that is the same with the side cases though...

I considered the Trekker Outback side cases, too. GIVI doesn't have any information about racks for the Varadero. Maybe there isn't enough demand.  I noticed that SW Motech has a new aluminum line of luggage that is about to come out. I've had good luck with the TRAX luggage.

I have these fitted to my Crosstourer.  I like the trekker outback panniers, I have fitted the 38L side panniers and a 68L top box.  The 58 L top box is very large  :o

The side panniers are well constructed but not 100% water proof.  I use the Givi liner bags with the panniers and that keeps my luggage 100% dry.

the mounting system of the Trekker looks very much like the one from Touratech.
And Touratech has the racks for Varadero, so may be there is something to combine.
succes!
