Honda adventure roads 2019

After North cape HONDA present its new adventure road for 2019: This event will cover 3,736 kilometres in 12 stages that cross through some of the most breathtaking scenery in South Africa. For the modest amount of 7 400€ !!! for the price you have an "all inclusive" trip with a "recent" bike or you can travel with yours, riding with Honda's ambassadors etc ...

Honda never learns from its mistakes.

The (also) over organized and over expensive Honda Varadero Adventure trip in '99 / '00 to Marocco and Russia was one of the reasons I started with our VIM legacy in 1999.

Holly molly ! I thought the motorcycle school trips to Namibia around where I live were expensive, at 4500 euros per person,
but that is just insane !

Just returned from a three week trip to South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Zambia.  Thoroughly enjoyed myself, although I was traveling in a overland vehicle.
Met two german guys on KTM 690 and 790.  Sand was their main issue along with the fact that they had to do major detours due to the fact that most main routes go through national parks where motorcycles are not allowed.  Fuel stops are very far apart needing at least 200km range.
Riding after sundown is a no no or you might find a lion or leopard riding pillion.  Namibia was exceptionally hot at 44 deg with even the locals complaining. Drinking a minimum of 3 litres a day was essential.
South Africa and Namibia will take Rand as currency with food and beer quite cheap.
Dump your Namibian dollars before you get to Botswana as they will give you a crap exchange rate against their Pula. Botswana was a lot more expensive with one of the best economies in Africa.
The visa into Zimbabwe was a KASA visa costing 35$ US allowing multiple entry for 15 days allowing you to do a tour of Zambia. Zimbabwe will take most currencies but US dollars are best.

Hope this info helps anyone planning a similar adventure.

Gareth: totally copy your experiences. The southern tip of the African continent is something different, I only experienced it positive both by car and bike.

I was so stunned by the prices because I was in SA march 2018 and found this : https://www.msatravelafrica.com/honda-africa-twin-rentals

Standard AT is 131euros per day so 12 days is 1572 euros, there's a 10 euro per day fee to go off road, so if you manage to take all equipment in the plane that's no
additional costs, add about 500 euros for food let's say flight is 1000 euros total without accommodation and fuel is 3172 euros...

Which leaves you with 4228 euros for fuel and accommodation, I think you can go for insane 5 star hotels and lodges then  !!!
Honda are totally out of reality on this, seems you can do it for almost half the price they ask you !
