Well.. Gotland is the sunniest place in Sweden of its location in the middle of the water and clouds normally not building up.
Very rarely it snows in this time of year and used to be kind of nice weather with temperatures around +20°C

Roads and info are updated on the vim19.com site how to get to Sweden and to Gotland

Hi friends
On my road to VIM19 I shall pass near the Dolomites in Italy. Does anybody have a suggestion for a one day tour map for the Dolomites suitabel for a 72 years old tired conservative biker.

No problems with roads, Jack. Other than traffic!  ;D

From glamourous Cortina d'Ampezzo westwards to passo Giau (a great one) then Fedaia (you can have a rest by letting you be climbed to the Marmolada glacier) and Pordoi, Sella,... with their limestone cliffs above you... You can't go wrong in this area  :)

Have a nice trip,

Josep

So, the attendence fee is paid, and the ferry is booked and paid too; 11:25 from Nynäshamn June 1st, and 16:50 to Oskarshamn 5th of June.

I´ll be leaving Denmark May 31st in the evening, going to Bankeryd in Sweden, where I´ll stay overnight with my tent, before going to Nynäshamn next morning.

On the way home I´ll go to Bankeryd again, this time via Oskarshamn.

What happens in Bankeryd? In Bankeryd you´ll find the oldest (opened in 1977), motorcycle camping in Europe, driven by the local MC-Club, VMCK (Vätterbygdens Motorcykel Klubb), a nice spot in the forrest by the lake, but with walking distance to town. There are 5 cabins, each for 4 persons, and a lot of space for tents. The place opens June 1st, but if you, like me, arrives earlier, you can put your tent up for free, but then the clubhouse won´t be open and there will be no one there:

There are other places for an overnight stay, if someone needs this, either on the way to Gotland, or, on the way back. Of cause, there´s a lot of ordinary campsites and hotels everywhere, but if you prefer motorcycle related places, another possibility in Sweden is "Alebo Pensionat". This is not just for motorcyclists, but your welcome as a motorcyclist, and a lot of motorcyclists uses it:

In Denmark we have the "BikerMotel" in Copenhagen, where your room is a 20 feet container, so you can ride your bike in and park it beside your bed  ;D. Made by motorcyclists, for motorcyclists VCIF_ThumbUp :

Thanks that is useful information.

I'm feeling excited now, only five weeks to go before I jump on the plane. All the bits are coming together nicely:
  • VIM19 booked and paid for.
  • VIM accommodation booked and paid for, and
  • my visa to get into Russia (heading through St Petersburg on the trip back from VIM 19) arrived today.
  • My bike goes in for a service on 5th May (care of Red's manager, thanks Bernard)

You are riding over Haukeli since google not can provide a better road, since it yet is snow over both Suleskard fjell and Trollstigen/Geiranger.

They have start moving snow..

Ha ha Jyrky you restart VIM16 ?  ;D we were blocked yesterday in Massif Central , pass was closed at (only) 1589 m because of snow !!!  8)
Alone we go faster, together we go further

I do not ride fast, I ride far / I'm not lost, I'm just exploring
