Italy,

Option1
You can use
Code: [Select]
Click, when in Photobucket in the field I marked. You'll see the text 'copied' and simply paste it in your message field here. Et voila, done.

Option2
or directly from your pc.. see below field you type your message in "Attachments and other options". Now you see "Attach:" with the red circle around it. Select now the image directly from you pc.

Good luck!

Made a small screenshots of the options.
Edit: deleted screenshots to save some storage space

Four of the passes I rode last autumn  ;)

A great classic: Pailheres
(http://i61.tinypic.com/2r2yq9h.jpg)

A not so high one in the middle of nowhere: Col de l'Homme Mort (Dead man pass)

A nice one next to the well known (down here) collada de Tosses: Coll de la Creueta (Little Cross pass)

And one near my village (the one in my village is some 200 m higher but lacks indication): Coll d'Albarca

Col d'Iseran at 2770m (9087.899 feet) ...might have a problem with that one!
Unfortunately our roads go between the mountains rather than over them and we don't have those magnificent switchbacks... :P
I'll check my route and see what passes are there!

A very recommendable one: Hourquette d'Ancizan.

These pics were taken in the same place with a four year span (the latter is the same as published in my trip to England's post)

In between, this col has been discovered by the Tour de France. This means there are new signs for cyclists, and much more people!

Greetings,

Josep

The Gentle Annie summit, on the way between Napier at sea level and Taihape on the Central Plateau in New Zealand's North Island.

It's only 817m above sea level, but sea level's where you start on the 152km ride.

(http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r78/PJay_2007/GentleAnnietour8July07004.jpg) (http://s141.photobucket.com/user/PJay_2007/media/GentleAnnietour8July07004.jpg.html)

The road was gravel for some of the distance the time this pic was taken; it is now all sealed.

I need to take a camera next time I travel the South Island passes; I did a "7 Passes" ride a couple of years ago, but have no pics so it didn't happen.

I have so many of those 'didn't happen' moments .....all in my head. With such beautiful scenery you'd never make any progress if you tried to photograph it all. It's nice to share but let's not live our lives through a lens like this current generation seems to be.

PS Like the pics!

Lately I take the camera again. My old film one, or my daughters cheap digital.
But, for instance, I didn't take any on occasion of my Varadero trips to Norway (2004) or Wales (2005). My wife kinda thinks that posing and searching the right view for a picture is a waste of time, but she also agrees that a number of pictures helps to keep the memories.

On the other hand: what is this "7 passes route" in NZ, South Island?

I was frustrated those last years because of not enough pictures coming back at home; a lot of things seen during the travel, and just a part on the pictures... The solution I have adopted is taking pictures while riding  ;D yes they are not all as better as they can, but I 'm happy to see landscape I've ride on . Digital camera allows that. The other way is I love to share with family and friends, and personally I'm happy to discover places I can go one day! I've looked and dreamed this winter on Norway pictures and films. It was fantastic to discover them by myself!

Oh, it's just a favourite way I have of covering the South Island when going around it clockwise:

Hakataramea Pass (gravel)

Dansey's Pass (gravel)

Lindis Pass

Crown Saddle

Haast Pass

Arthur's Pass

Lewis Pass

(all sealed).

There's no special magic in these seven; there are lots, some more challenging, some less - though on the day when I first rode over Hakataramea in a mid-winter road trial (that I won), there was a metre of snow and 11 farm gates to open and close on what was then single-track, and it was challenging enough on a Suzuki T500.

A little lazy but here's one looking down from 3,000 m to Passo Stelvio and another from half way up Gavia.

And another one, I mentioned to Mr. Kiwi. on the way down from Stelvio westward towards Bormio, take the right turn into Switzerland and carefully down a part gravel road, to this lovely hostel, to enjoy the view of Ste Maria Val Mustair. This is the Umbrail Pass from the Swiss side of the border.
The coffee stop reminds of a recent post but I can't recall the place; it's up there somewhere.

Cheating again. These are from the 'Goodbye' tour 2011, on the Purple Pan.
Going through the Pyrenees I recommend a stop at his bike friendly hostel, noted a well prepared Harley in the park.
Then onward and upward to the Pic Maia in Andorra , shunning the tunnel, and over and down to Foix, on the Toulouse road, (stop for sausages) France.

Hello, it is not exactly the pass but it is very hard road with big displacement 14 km from down to top 1700 m, it is the highest place where I was been with Varadero, the highest dam on Balkan Peninsula called "Kalin" 2394 m. It is situated in Rila mountain, about 100 km south from Sofia. Dam Kalin is connected by a vertical shaft and tunnel to dam "Karagyol", located nearby, thus forming two "communicating vessels".

On the Road:

OOO yes it was road from concrete in 1943 :). It was made for heavy trucks to go up building the dams. You can see what is left now from 1943.  It was very hard to go up there with Varadero, I sweat a lot on 8 degrees Celsius.

So what do you think about? Do you cross the channel and come to good old Europe?

Up to now I hope my employer will grant leave for the time of the meeting.

Mmmm. I have never been to this one. Always took the direct path between Formigueres-MontLluis, and then either Pailheres and/or Axat and/or Pimorent. I will have to pay a visit and take a proper Varadero picture from the site  ;D ;D

Congratulations for your healthy activities!  ;D Regards,

I see, 1632 m...

It must have rained A LOT, considering how much your shasta white has shrunk!  ;D ;D ;D

BTW. I've read about the Camí de Cavalls. It looks like a nice route (I've to Minorca just once), hopefully not too crowded! Save some money for a good "caldereta de llagosta" (a typical minorcan lobster dish).

Regards,

Josep

Not everything is pink ( do not know if you say that outside France) .
2 hours to go from Cannes to Nice, with the bike , middle of November!!!  I do not imagine during summer with much more tourists.(http://r31.imgfast.net/users/3116/29/30/32/smiles/212044391.gif)
I leave then the bike for few months going high in the mountain and the snow...  :'(

Greetings,

Well, although I didn't rode nor Varadero, nor Crosstourer or AT...
I think it's now also my time to brag about passes... ;) (Because, as if you maybe don't know, I decided to get my A licence when I was at VIM France!)

Let me first post my first passes in Slovenia, as I come from there...
I rode to the most popular pass Vršič immediately I got my driving licence, 21st July 2015. Well, I borrowed the bike from my driving school "Šmarca", so please, don't comment the Yamaha Fazer... Or as proverb says: "never look a gift horse in the mouth"...

And the second one I made with my two friends to Pavličevo sedlo a few days later (again with borrowed bike, Yamaha MT 07 as my bike was in France). That pass is at the border with Austria...

And this summer (29th June 2017) we managed to rode over some more beautiful passes... This time with Hondas... of course...  ;)

At the height 1987 m: Jü de Börz or Würzjoch or Passo delle Erbe. It's in South Tyrol in Italy...

With heavy hail storm on the top (which turned to snowing a bit later) we reached also famous Passo dello Stelvio or Stilfser Joch
(http://i66.tinypic.com/156bu69.jpg)

And Umbrail Pass at the border between Italy and Switzerland:

Those were done in one day which was not really sunny... Nevertheless I enjoyed that day.  :)

And a day later, 30th June 2017, we had sunny day and we saw soooooooooooo beautiful nature around us.... Ah, it's so different to rode on a beautiful day! Everything was awesome!

I admit - Switzerland was like a paradise that day...
Albula Pass

Not sure I understand, but we've begun under rain, and had storm last evening; so hard conditions this year with a lot of mud; they just opened the road a few day before ...

@Jirky: you've decided to mount trekker the right way ?!!  ;D

@Ursula : It is a replica of an old lighthouse of the Rhine delta, because it is at the source of the Rhine.

I often place my locks at the front when riding gravel as less mud and craps gets on the pannier locks that way. The only issue is the lids open the wrong way and won't stay open due to the rising angle of the bike towards the back.

Either way, I periodically put oil in the locks otherwise they eventually get stiff.
