Recall VFR1200X (Shaft drive, early models)

(1/6) > >>

Two Plugs:
@ All,
There are some rumours spreading around about a pending recall for the CT, issues with the shaft drive. It is - however not yet officially announced by Honda - confirmed through our contacts which we consider reliable.

The recall covers a VIN range, which at least the VFR1200X, model year 2013, falls into.

I'm not sure how many bikes world wide are involved, but it will be announced in the new year (2016).  My understanding is current models being sold are not affected, but earlier models are.

Please let us know in reply to this posting, as you have received the official announcement.

italy1:
Thank you for this Bernard,

I am on the facebook group for the Crosstourer Italy and it would seem from their posting that the recall has already been published on some government official gazette....there are also some posts about some bikes having actually suffered real breakages of the final drive, which is not something you want at the back of your mind while cruising on a busy motorway....... if this is all true, I hope Honda deals with it as swiftly as possible. I'll stick to my lardy Vara for the time being :-)

Happy festive season to everyone .... :)

I understand mine is not affected. It's a VFR1200XD (different final transmission) and its seven last VIN figures are not in that range.

MrKiwi:
Thanks. Mine is affected.

I have spoken with the distributor who confirmed I will be officially notified in the new year. I have low miles on my CT, less than 16000 kms.

I didn't realise Honda Japan had already announced the recall. Nice to know this is limited to only 111 CT's worldwide. Looking on the bright side, at least I won't require a service on the drive shaft for quite sometime after the recall.

It's hard to beat the old chain and sprockets.
