Gearing for gentler 1st and better highway cruise

Hi guys back from Spain, where they drive like crazy speedy Gonzales, something like 150-160 instead of 130 with highways all around having 7% inclines,
I have to say It did not always feel so comfy !

So has anyone tried to change gearing ratio from 16/42 to something like 16/40, not to loose too much torque but gain on buzzing and 1st roughness !?
Also wondering if I would change gearing, would the TC have issues or not !?
