Engine Oil Capacity - Manual and DCT (Yes! they are different)

ENGINE OIL CAPACITY

Here are the figures from the Honda workshop manual.
I added some extra notes (such as number of drain plugs and identifying the difference between A (Manual Gearbox) and D (DCT)

CRF1000L /A: (Manual Gearbox)

  • 3.9L (4.1 US qt, 3.4 Imp qt) at draining (Note: Two drain plugs)
  • 4.1L (4.3 US qt, 3.6 Imp qt) at oil filter change
  • 4.9L (5.2 US qt, 4.3 Imp qt) at disassembly
CRF1000L /D: (DCT)

  • 4.0L (4.2 US qt, 3.5 Imp qt) at draining (Note: Two Drain Plugs)
  • 4.2L (4.4 US qt, 3.7 Imp qt) at oil filter change (both engine and DCT Filters)
  • 5.2L (5.5 US qt, 4.6 Imp qt) at disassembly
* Engine Oil Filter: Honda Part 15410-MFJ-D01 (K&N 204 or 204c)
* DCT Clutch Oil Filter: Honda Part 15412-MGS-D21
* Engine oil plug washer: Honda Part 94109-12000 (Two required per oil change)
* Oil Type:
   Honda "4-stroke motorcycle oil" or an equivalent motor oil.
   API service classification: SG or higher
   JASO T903 standard: MA
   Viscosity: SAE 10W-30
