Title: Hello from Wales
Post by: EasyRider on October 23, 2023, 10:39:02
Hello From Wales

My name is Mart and i Just thought i would say hello as I've just bought myself a 2013 Varadero 1000.
Bought it in late August and I've added some bit and bobs to it and got it just right for me & the wife.
I wont be using it off road, but it will be a mile muncher for the wife and i.
We are doing about 200 miles a week on it as we only have time to get out once a week at the moment.
I try to keep to the A & B roads and no M-ways. We are out on it in the wet weather to, so it will be used all year round nearly.
So anyway, Hi and i hope to be joining in on the forum.

Hi Guys, Thank you for the welcome.

Yes it is one of the last batch in white. I have seen a couple on 63 plates and one on a 14 plate.

I bought it mainly as a winter hack, But i'm really enjoying it. I do have other bikes that i only use in the summer months, but i can see the Varadero being used the most as its an armchair on wheels. Might even see if i can find another one with lower miles as im riding it so much, as this one had 27,700 miles on it when i bought it, and is now its just off 30,000 mile.

Riding 2 up with panniers i'm getting between 42-47 MPG depending how i ride.  I keep the panniers on just in case i need to do a small repair to get me home. i'm with the AA, but sod waiting around for hours if i can fix it myself. I've already had to repair the rear tyre as after 600 miles i picked up a screw. I did a propper repair on it when i got home, as i was not going to spend another £170 so soon after fitting a new tyre. It's not a sports bike so i was happy to repair the tyre.

Photo is from the Autotrader ad before i added anything to it.

remember we speak in kilometers instead of miles ! ... 48 000 kms is just unbridled, you can do 200 or 300 000 kms with it ;) and yes it can bring you everywhere you want, but yes do not forget your puncture kit ;)
