What to see on the road to vim17
« on: April 09, 2015, 15:01:36 »
Hi friends.
Do any of you know the location (road number) where the movie "Sur un arbre perché" with Louis de Funès was shot ?

I know that it was on the Riviera, but once I was looking for and not found.

According to french wikipedia, in the falaises (cliffs) de Cassis.
According to the same source, the D141 road (route des Crêtes) between Cassis et La Ciotat should go near there.

Greetings,

Josep

Seems Josep is absolutely right it's the road between Cassis and La Ciotat . Nice in this way, and before between Marseille and la Ciotat (D559) is very nice too. Be careful with radars  ;)
I can probably can give more information if needed when back home.
Exvara coming to this vcim knows very well this region !  ;) he lived not far for long years.

Hello Jack,

unless you ride the motorway, it is very slow to ride from Genoa to Nice. But you surely know this fact from other times.

Also, you may go inland to Borgo San Dalmazzo (I), then Isola2000 (F), climb la Bonette, and go W through Provence's countryside (including a climb to Mont Ventoux and/or "le grand canyon du Verdon" and/or ...).

If you are interested in monuments and heritage, some musts are: the city center of Avignon, Arlès, Nimes, the Pont du Gard, Aigues Mortes,...

Regards,

Josep M.

Be carefull, Isola 2000 can be closed yet  ?:-)

For me the most beautifull is "petite France" - small wiliges and forgoten routs p.e.
N43.82811 E5.16143 - Oppede le Vieux - fantastic place with ruins of castel on the hill;
N43.90248 E5.29206 - Roussilon - a little bit too comercial
or some more North:
beautiful forgoten rute D942 (Gorges de la Nesque) between Sault and Villes-Sur-Auzon with village Monieux
of course rout to Mont Ventouxwith beautiull view on Provace and Apls (if the weather allows) - where it's always hard blows

N44.21615 E5.08465 - Crestet - another small vilage near famoust Vaison -la-Romaine with old stone Roman's bridge
N44.20741 E5.02333 - Séguret - another small perl of Provance

etc, etc ...  endless list

All options proposed are nice...
Think coast road between La Spezia to Genoa is marvelous, from Genoa to French border, you have to forget  ;D
If you go in the Alps be careful on passes opening, for instance Vars, Lautaret, and Mongenèvre are open ( I'm in  ;) ) . You can have some site , to see which are open; ask if needed...
Have all a safe road to vcim.  ;)

Nice ride, but please be aware that at the french sea-alpes the passes may be closed at end of may.

Please see this link:

(sorry in German, but I think it is readable because the names of the passes are international).

Sorry , be careful with some of these sites... Lautaret is indicated open and it is not !!! .
If you plan to take it, be careful. It is closed at least until 30 of April ... ( problem under a tunnel access) ✌🏻

After French border, riviera is a nice place to see (not to live ;D) and south part of Alps are also wonderful...
If you like roman stones, I prefer to go to Arles then Nîmes... Yes pont du gard is a most; think you have no more free access now even in bike  :-\
Yes gorges du Verdon is also a most ( north road from west to east) but you perhaps make also the south one to come back... ;D you have to go up to Mont Ventoux and hope nice weather to have a nice large view. As said by Bogdan, Luberon just down the Ventoux with small typical villages is wonderful, with as said also gorges de la nesque a very nice biking part ;)
If you like nature, Camargue can also be an option ( flat as Danmark - so not funny biking place ) with natural park full of birds ( flamingos and others) and other animals. Have a look on Saintes Maries de la Mer and aigues mortes and take sauvage ferry (free) over petit Rhône( yes very poor after Norway 's ;D )
