2008 Xl1000 headlights have stopped working
« on: January 12, 2018, 11:36:16 »
Hi. I recently posted about no power to my bike which turned out to be a dead battery. Not flat but completely dead. I know have no headlights. New battery, fuses fine and Globes. Blue light comes on dash when I hit high beam or passing but no high or low beam. Any ideas. Thx

Always start eliminating things with the simplest / cheapest first. Try two new bulbs, the dicky battery could have fried your old ones.

Put in new Globes. Still no lights. Looks like an expensive trip to the bike shop.

The blue indicator lamp in the instrument panel and the lamps share the same supply so if the lamp is coming on but none of the dip or main beams are coming on then it looks like a break in the earth connection from the lamp cluster.

The Honda manual shows the instrument panel and the lamps earth coming back to the same point . I'm guessing there must be a break in the earth line somewhere.

Where you looking in this area when you were investigating the non starting issue ?

Hi SB. Thanks for the information. I was feeling around behind the dash when the battery died so maybe i loosened something. I will check it out. Thx again.
