Camel-ADV extra fuel tank (6.5L / 1.7Gal)
« on: June 30, 2017, 10:44:28 »
With regards to fuel range on the CRF100L - This is what I will be fitting to my AT.  These tanks are being produced by Camel-ADV, not too far from me in Canada.  I've been in touch with the owner.  Cory said that the brackets for my Bumot Defender pannier system are being worked on right now.

Camel-ADV Fuel Tank Kit

The Camel Tank is installed on the rear left side of the bike, opposite side to the exhaust. Occupying otherwise useless space, it adds 6.5Litres/1.7 gallons of extra fuel to your capacity for a total of 25.5 litres. That's an additional 100-150 km of extra fun before you need to start looking for a fuel station!

For those not familiar with the concept. It feeds directly into the main tank whilst the engine is running. Once it's empty the main fuel tank begins to be consumed.  You will see a 'full' reading on the fuel gauge until the camel tank is empty and the fuel in the main tanks starts to be used.
So, basically you use 6.5L/1.7Gal of fuel from the Camel Tank before you even start to eat into your main fuel tank :)

Note:  Does not fit when OEM panniers are installed!

You can find it online here:  Camel Tank for the Honda Africa Twin

David Crawford / MrKiwi, exactly what you are looking for!

James,
Which pannier system is on the displayed bike? Also the Bumot? Is there a possibility that it can be modified to fit with the OEM panniers?

Hi Bernard,

I'm using the Bumot Defender Pannier system. I have been in contact with the owner of Camel-ADV. The brackets are being developed now so that the install will work with my pannier frames.    Once he says they are ready I will post here also with an update.  The thing is I am away until early August so won't actually see them before then as the earliest.

I think the OEM pannier on the left fits too close to the bike to allow the Camel-ADV tank to squeeze in there.  The only think I could imagine is to fit a pannier frame and adapt the OEM panniers to fit the new frame?  The Honda panniers are reasonably square (externally) and similar in appearance to Aluminium panniers made by other companies so they might look OK.... or not! Who knows.

This will work with my bike as I have the Givi trekker outback panniers fitted to it and the brackets are the PL____Cam type. 25L fuel capacity is perfect for this bike.

I will await with interest to see when the brackets for the Givi pannier rack is available.

Cheers from downunder...

You can email Cory at Camel-ADV and ask: info@cameltank.com

He's a one man business, but tends to respond to email pretty quickly.  If you don't mind, maybe mention James McLauchlan from East Sooke, Vancouver Island, recommended Camel-ADV in the Honda Adventure Riders Forum.  It's always nice for a small business owner to know where their products are being talked about.  FYI. I have no affiliation nor any deals going with Cory, other than I'm waiting for the bracket for my Bumot Defender Pannier frame to be made. :)

Thanks for the update

Just sent Cory another email asking about the setup for the Bumot Defender Pannier System.  I'll post the response also.
