@Jrays
I know you have the Mitas E07 on your AT.
How have these performed for you on tarmac, particularly in cold wet downhill conditions.
-
I am happy with Mitas E07, have not had much wet road experiences though. But I am aware they will be worse on wet, I have been riding motocross tires on DS bikes on wet tarmac and fell quite often :(
-
Not on the stunning CRF1000, but on a BMuu F800GS (comparable in size / weight) I have some experiences with Mitas E07 and must say they felt very confident, both on (South African) gravel, as wel as paved roads and in rain.
I still would choose for the TKC70 though ;) But there is the issue of price-difference which is in favour for the Mitas. Inlcuding a picture:

You get two rounds of Mitas of price of one round of TK.

Then depending on how much kils you do with ... ;)

Thanks for the feedback, interesting discussion.
The TKC70 is fine on gravel, but not so on dirt. If I think I need to go more aggressive with my tires on the AT next time round I might consider these. For the time being the TKC70 is doing a fine job.

So far 6500 km and worn less than half...

Perfect VCIF_ThumbUp Jyrki.
I've ride a little bit fech fech sand with the TKC and yes front wheel was difficult to control; but I'm not a pilot ... ;D

I done some in Portugal as you have seen on the video... fesh-fesh is hard with any tires...

I had Mitas E07 front & rear on my VFR1200X I also weight 160kg so there was a lot of pressure on a small contact spot.
Never had a problem with them all through Winter here in Australia
-
but but but, you don't get a winter in Australia :P
Nice to hear your feedback on them. I might try them one day.

Mitas E07 is something like this ;)
-
Quite different to the TKC 70

Used the E-07 on both my DL650 and the Varadero.
Liked them allot, wore well enough, Better off road performance than the K60 scouts (particularly the front)
As for the road, they were not as good as the Anakee 2's but better road manners and wet grip than the K60's.
I'd have another set in a heartbeat, but the mrs now has a GSX1400 and I am not destined to see much rough stuff on a big bike anymore so went for Bridegstone A40's. (I also work in a Bike dealership and we can't get Mitas tyres)
I don't have an AT to try a set on I'm afraid.

Thanks for your comments. Interesting that you don't rate them as good as Anakee 2's for road manners. I rate the TKC 70 better than the Anakee 2's for road manners and better also for gravel.

Anakee 2 and 3 are only tires I lost control on tarmac.

I haven't tried the Anakee 3. The TKC 70 is a better tire in my view than the Anakee 2. I did quite like the Anakee 2 but never felt 100% confident with them in the wet. They were a good tire on my Tiger 955i, but not good on the CT.
I will give the tires you have on your bike a go at some point, will be a while away, the 70's are wearing really well.
-
I got mitas E-09's put on and found them superb on gravel roads - very chunky but noisy on tarseal with surprisingly reasonable grip in the dry and ok grip in the wet.
-
And I have the Mitas E-10 Dakar on, front and back.
Super on dirt and gravel and to my surprise very handy on the street.
You do have to take care when wet.
Only issue is that the Daker version are allmost impossibel to put on by hand.
The E-10 version without the Dakar name are soft wall, and need more low air pressure when offroading.
I think you can drive very far offroad on the Daker version with a punkture.
Ole.

This thread seems now discussing all Mitas tires... Title edited VCIF_ok

Is there some body here who have mount the new EO7+ preferably on AT; and have some report to do ... I envisage it as my next mount ... Thx

As you've seen here (https://honda-adventure-riders.com/index.php?topic=1802.msg21541#msg21541) , I've mounted a rear MITAS E07 + Dakar (yellow stripe ) on my AT.
after 2850 kms done duo/ panniers ( whose 200 off road alone/ light)
it is something like this.
On the beginning a little bit less precision on the corner, but surely the break-in ... So a great tire, I've chosen the Dakar version with 3 folds of rubber instead 2 for normal version, what is good for extreme condition I think ... Rapid temperature rise (but we ride with 30°C) ; nice hang on all conditions; ride under severe storm (carefully) and absolutely no slip; done a hard conditions off-road session, with mud (the old TKC on front had problems) and very rocky: the traction is phenomenal ! ;D
On worst points, sure as it is more knobby (as TKC70) some vibrations around 40/50 kms/h and some times a little bit noisy (when do not hear the engine) .
Have to see now, how much kils I can do, but as said by Jyrki, price is very interesting , and if you decide to go off road, really a good choice ! VCIF_salut

I have my first E07+ rear and happy so far. I need to find better front than E07 though.
-
TKC 70 is not so bad for front with E07+, but mine is used and I have reached the limits (in mud) .
-

what's wrong with front E07 ? what have you previously (with E07 rear?) VCIF_ok

It is my 3rd E07 front. They do not last as long as rear, they are noisy and losing shape too quick.

I am touring in NZ from Auckland down and back to the bottom of the South Island in December with a mate both on Africa Twins with about 5k Km total planned - mostly tarseal with roughly 750 Km of easy gravel. Currently for town use the twins are shod with Continental TA2's which I like a lot. But for the south Island I will switch the rear to a Mitas E07 + and front to a TKC 80. The West Coast of the south Island is usually very wet so that will be an interesting tarseal test. Update to follow.
-
I have converted both 2016 DCT AT's from TA2's to Mitas 07+ (rear) and TKC80 (front) and used both for commuting including in heavy rain in Auckland city and did a gravel riding 100 km course on them with a buddy this weekend. In the dry at up to 75 MPH/120 KPH on motorways the combination is stable, corners well and a little noisy. On standard well kept NZ gravel roads they were a very good combination. As has been reported before by many the TKC 80 has exceptional grip on wet tarseal for a knobbly tire while the MT07+ are a little slippery in dry tarseal when cold or not scrubbed in and are "ok" on wet tarseal. After my 5k south Island tour I will report back more on them.
-
As a regular rider in the south those South Island roads will wear your tires at a much faster rate than the North Island roads, they use a different chip in the seal and it is harder on tires.
-
They are such gorgeous tar-sealed roads though - cambered, well drained, sticky with the extra grip making for more wear, not much traffic, I can hardly wait - only 5 sleeps to go as we used to tell the kids! The gravel seems different to the North Island too - down south it's much more like riding on marbles, much less sticky down south than up North when you're off the tar-seal.

Still waiting your report :D
Is there somebody here who have finished a rear 07+ ? (How much kils?) I have to manage my next VIM + baltics travel (surely something around 6000 kms ...) VCIF_salut

I have just 1k on mine, no idea how they will last. E07 rear made 14k...
-
Just posted in the other AT tires thread.
They are excellent - 15,500 km and the front is done. Rear is still going - likely for another 3-5,000 kilometres.
Superb tire in every terrain.
-
Have you tried 07+ on the front. I've been heard it will be available (perhaps overseas before us ?)

Most of the North American dealers are out of Mitas tires for the season. Just leftovers. I really liked the E07 front - I was quite surprised at how good it was, especially after having a more knobby tire like the Anakee Wild (which is still my favorite).
I think next season I'll try the E07+ tires. Or maybe an E09 or E10 rear since the E12 was so good.

Will E-07 be discontinued?
E-07 will not be discontinued, we will only replace the selected sizes with E-07+.
Can I combine E-07 and E-07+?
A variety of tests on different bikes and under different conditions confirmed that E-07+ is fully compatible with E-07. They can be fitted as a pair (e.g. E-07 front, E-07+ rear).
