Hotel and camping
« on: August 29, 2013, 01:45:06 »
Dear friends.

The Norwegian orgateam has received following quotes from Hotel Geiranger and Geiranger camping.
All prices are per person and 3 nights.

HOTEL:
In double/twin room NOK 1590.-
In single room NOK 2580.-
If you want a room with fjord view (recommended) add NOK 210.- per person.

CAMPING:
One bike and one tent NOK 300.-
NOK 90.- per person.
Breakfast/dinner at the hotel

The camping has no cottages. Only tenting or caravan.

The fee for food, goodie bag etc will be about NOK 1100.-
This can change if we receive a good quote for ferry tickets to Hellesylt or tickets to Dalsnibba on a common trip.

Today (28.08.2013) NOK 100.- means € 12,28 or £ 10,51.

Booking will start in middle of September.
It will be possible to pay directly to a Norwegian bank account or PayPal.

Are we really going up the Dalsnibba snowroad?  ;D
Now I am happy!!! I only did that one by car...
When I visited Geiranger the last time by bike (July!), it was covered with apr 2 meters of fresh snow...  ;)

But even by car Dalsnibba is a 'need-to-have-done' ride!

Thanks for the information Erik!

I'm already warmed up for this trip!
 ;D
Never heard of Dalsnibba before but the pics on internet are very promising! Off-road tyres are recommended here since I understand that this road is mainly gravel. :o

Although I'm biking for more than 30 years now, I'm absolutely not as experienced on gravelroads like you guys from Sweden, Norway  & Finland.  :-\
Fitting the right tyres will give me a more confident feeling!

@Twoplugs : do you still have your "old" TA1 for sale?

Nice video Skye  :)

@Madero
What I ment was just.....climbing up is not steep, the cars has drove a track on the gravel so there are usually not much gravel to ride on.

Last time I was there was on a heavily loaded Zoomer moped. No probs to climb. What I did there that day i don´t know.....foggy weather  :)

Went up and down with Metzeler Next. As near a roadtyre you can come. No problems even if I'm a coward and precautius

Erik,

tks for this information.

But three questions I have:

Is this the normal price for the geiranger hotel ?
Have we to submit a special "keyword" to get the price you posted ?
Breakfast included ?

@Varakurt. Erik is in holiday so I can answer for you.

A electrified caravan spot will cost you about 250 NOK per day. (~€30)

Jos (Madero): You can even drive up Dalsnibba on a Goldwing. Only on a Varadero it is much more fun. You have done enough mileage to be considered as an experienced biker; nobbies are useless on the Dalsnibba; besides that, they are utterly useless on your 2.000 km ride to Geiranger and will spoil all the fun on the Norwegian coastal roads. Most dirt/gravel roads in Scandinavia are (much!) better maintained than most paved roads in our country.

Get some proper Conti TA2's or the new Anakee III and you will have all the fun (eh, read: grip) you need.

The TA1 is gone, sold to a Varadero owner in Delfzijl.

Hi, Rainer.

We have got appx 20% discount from the hotel management.
The price for the "goodie bag" includes three breakfasts and three dinners
In a few days (weeks?) Stewart will finish his work with the registration site. When you register on this site, you will have all the details about booking and payment - just like the last years.

Regards from rainy Krakow.
