you're a clever guy. Yes this is a mistake, but I didn't want to correct it because ...
The US use it as follows: IRT (in reference to).
They drive as well with a sedan. This word I as well didn't know before.

Also I can't think of my front mudguard as a 'fender' but as long as we know what we're talking about, we'll get there in the end. Incidentally, any corrections I throw in are purely for your edification and by no means any criticism. I can ask the way in Germany but heaven forbid I should have to write anything down! It's so good for me that all you forum people make the effort to write in English.

As far as the Netherlands are concerned things will only get better in the future. All kids at primary school are educated english from the age of 8. Yesterday our government announced the start of a new experiment at 12 primary schools : ALL education (including mathematics, geography etc) will be done completely in english! By doing this our government wants to support to make english our second language.
Next to english kids are educated german and french during their time at college. At universities the language of instruction is mostly completely english.

It is à right way I think, if we want people to speak other languages. Seems all experiances in France are not so good

When I was at school, French and later German were taught but too late and very badly. We now know that  the brain is more receptive at a much younger age. If you have kids, you could do worse than get them in front of the television showing the desired language in cartoons or any program they like. It worked for my French nephews, who are now in their teens and fluent in English. There was of course schoolwork as well.
I am currently reading Topolino and Paperino in Italian but for me it is very, very late. The words take a long time to 'stick' in the old head!

At the Rhein-Valley in Germany near the French border (between Alsace and Baden) the kids learn at school as first foreign language French.
 
This should steel the friendship between the two countries. Then after 4 years they learn as second foreign language English.

As I recognized, because I'm often in France (Alsace), most of the Alsacien/-ienne speak as well German.
