Damn! I just bought a 2023!  :o

On the other hand...after almost 250K km on a 19" front wheel (Vara&Crosstourer), truth is that I am enjoying very much the 21" (as were my 250K km on XT, Dominator and Transalp)

Less aggressive looks, anyway  :) It fits better yours truly,  this one ageing (gentle)man  8)

it was predictable , 2016, 2020, 2024 ... a new version every 4 years ...

the 19" is only on ATAS, normal has still 21"

So ATAS 2024 is almost like NT1100 with different covers?

My opinion too; do not understand Honda's logic ...  har_scratch

Our friend zebulon had the chance to test ride a 2024 DCT Adventure Sports AT.  VCIF_salut

He wrote his first impressions in French language elsewhere. He acknowledged that I made an English version of this text to be posted here. So I put it in googletranslator and checked (and slightly modified) the result before posting it here. I hope there's no gross mistake left, but anyway, any error left is my sole responsability, for which I would appreciate correction. Thanks!

--------------------zebulon's text

The following are only my first impressions, during a 2 hour test ride of this motorcycle which had less than 300 km on the odometer and which I returned with more (more than 300 km  ;D )
A little text to Guilhem (the dealer) and within 2 minutes "you can come by"; needless to say I rushed to put my a** on it  ;D

In fact, you have to lift your leg less; the first impression is that there is more softness; With 1m83 you flat feet; other than that it feels like mine (which is a non DCT 2020); the handlebars are on the other hand "much" narrower and lower; it will turn out that even when seated my forearms dip (too much) towards the handlebars... Also as a result the mirrors are much less readable.
After a little reminder on the DCT (always apprehensive) we leave in D, at the first right angle (formerly a small roundabout) I am no longer in 6th as before; leaving the area we accelerate: 1st speed bump: ouch, it's not going to be the same it looks like; the gear change is fluid and from the second it shifts well; we go to S2, it remains super smooth, no noise, and from 2500/3000 we feel the torque input - it's true that I'm waiting to try the non DCT mechanics to compare this point; it's a little less harsh than the 2020, a little more subdued. To start with I chose the small country roads, it's less "flying carpet" on the rough edges (I didn't search the customizable menus, but stayed as solo driver and touring); cornering is not easier, the "small" handlebars hardly allow you to tackle a turn (difficult for me on mine); on the other hand the contribution of the 19" and better heading hold (I also ride on knobbies). Caster angle, first I thought that it was larger than before, but then I checked and it is the same, so it just looks like that because of the smaller wheel.
A small track to the right where I am starting to get used to doing my tests between flamingos & herons; I stand up, and there, I'm going to need raisers, really too low for me, I'm really in a toe, the track is wide and flat we can send a little and a feeling of heaviness straight away: 2 nice compressions (blackcurrant for the flow of water) and it's steep, the difference in travel is immediately felt, on the Battlax A41 road, we're not going to be stupid anyway... the path becomes narrower between ravine and pond, we stay in D and off-road after a few photos, it's really clumsier than mine

back on the road, we try the S3 a little, the adjustable screen is in the high position from the start, but ineffective, impossible to ride with the visor open (the normal one is also adjustable  VCIF_ThumbUp but a little lower (2/3 cms at first glance); the gear change is almost transparent as it is done so gently, it seems that the stages have also been revised, I play less with the "-" paddle, and that is a better thing; more discreet I I preferred the sound of mine; average consumption displayed on my arrival 7.8l new motorcycle and Guilhem is a bit tart!
This development is not fully what I'd be willing.  We manage to travel far as a duo loaded with ours, (especially since we can put a 25l now if we want), so this new AT is not right for me; I am therefore waiting for a head-on comparison with the normal (Karoo street roadway)
there you go, there you go  8)

we no longer see the black cylinders now

maybe a little confusing, I'm not a journalist

I have the impression of greater trail, but a priori it is just that it is lower  (<---I don't understand fully this in either English or French  :-[ ).

it seems caster angle was larger on the new 2024, but when I came back and have a look it is the same; so it is just because of the smaller front wheel.

 253 kg  !

Lighter than the XL1000V but perhaps too heavy for me.

think I've said it is very heavy, much more then mine, and less spring travel , makes the bike heavier & is not good at all (IMO)  ;)

I corrected the part about nipples/knobbies  :o and caster angle.  ::)
Also I replaced the pictures with a larger version.

Thanks for sharing, Gilles!  VCIF_ThumbUp

Caster get smaller when wheel size is smaller if the chassis geometry is not changed... just my engineering thoughts  8)
