Hi Martyn, hi all.
As told last VIM we shall have next VIM in the Palatinate Forest in the area of the town Schönau.
Before I can give more Infos, I have to wait till I have sth written from the Hotel.
I did the verbal discussion yet and it seems to be OK.
But I have to wait till I get a paper from the Hotel.
The time frame is, as said at Douglas, from 17.05.-20.05.2024.
Stewart is helping me for the booking of the attandance fee (and more, where I need some help) and the booking of the accomodation I plan to be done by each participant by his/her own, direct at the Hotel.
Sorry, but this ist at the moment all I can say.

According to GoogleMaps, there are TWO Schönau near Karlsruhe, one next to the French border, one near Heidelberg.
I assume Rainer is talking about the first one :D . Don't let your GPS lead you to the wrong one 8) (let alone the another one in Bavaria! ;D )

2 questions (for Rainer or anyone) for the sake of curiosity :)
In a trip to the area years ago, I remember there was a castle where Richard the Lionheart of England stayed (as captive?) in his way back to England. What castle was it?
Also I remember a small (Carolingian?) church that was on arches, that is, you could walk undernearth. Where was it?

Yes, that was the castle.
I found the church! I meant this one, Kloster Lorsch (some 125 km NNE of Schönau according to GMaps)

So whats the story on accomodation, does the hotel have pitches for tents as i may bring mine next year, or can i do as i done last year which was pay and attend the vim but source my accomodation elsewhere.

Yes, camping will be possible at the terrain of the hotel as already informed at:
VIM24 Information => GENERAL INFORMATION & MILESTONES - PUBLIC open
But please wait until mid of august.
Then I shall upload some more information for "Members Only" as you can see in the always prepared VIM-sections at the forum.

i have clicked on the booking accomodation thread and says about a pdf, but cant find anything. am i doing something wrong or hasnt it been added yet.

is closed at the moment and there is no PDF attached for the moment.
I shall open it later with more information for members of the forum and I shall attache a PDF concearning BOOKING THERE I SHALL GIVE MORE INFORMATION ABOUT BOOKING.

Not sure from an organizing point of view that it is an clever choice to allow participants to book their own accomodation, Rainer.... Why not make a combination with the registration fee?
On the orther hand... it does save you a lot of administration. 👍

I have written that booking (attendance AND accomodation = hotel) have to be done at vim web-domaine.
Who is telling these silly things.

But meanwhile we have discussed how to do the booking and have found a solution between the hotel and our bookingsystem.
The whole booking (attendance and accommodation) will be at the VIM web-domaine (as written at the PDF "Milestones ...")
Only the payment of the hotel will have to be done by the "BOOKER" of the room/tent place direct to the hotel.
So please wait until the VIM web-domaine is set up, than I can give more information.
Without an operable VIM web-domaine (means without an matching system between hotel and VIM web-domaine) I do not want to give any information how to ...
Is this explanation understandable (I am no English native speaker).

You guys&girls, present or missed in VIM23, rekindled some ember within me (is this sentence correct in English?)

Got the email from sb and went to log in on the booking link and it does not recognise my username, is the link working yet.

Do not really know which link your are speaking of.
If you have filled your profile (Edit-Profile) SB will check if it´s correct filled (all things needed are in).
Then he will open the booking section.
Then you can book your room/tentplace.
Note: If you find a room mate or have a partner you can book a double or twin bed room. So you help getting a maximum of attendees to VIM.

User error, but got in now. Although still cant book, click on accomodation and tells me to click another option in the home menu, but it isnt there. Am i missing something.

If SB has opened the booking section for you, you have under BOOKING the buttons "Store-Items" and "Orders".
Under Store-Items you can book attendance and room/tentplace.

You have to fill in the details in your "profile" section for you (and your guest).
Once you have done this and we've had time to check it we will approve your registration so that you can then see the booking section.

She is not a guest but added her as a guest to make thinks simpler 8)

Well, January 31st and 42 attendants so far.
Maybe someone else will join eventually, but I guess the final figures won't be much different.
It'll be great to meet you guys&(specially ;) )gals again!
Too bad some missed ones won't be there ::)
