Hi All,
Seeking some advice regarding the 2001 Varadero Carbs and whats the norm and when I should be concerned,
The bike has got about 100K Km's on the clock, so I cannot expect everything to be perfect, so I've stripped the carbs to give them a clean and noticed the throttle flap shafts are leaking where they go through the Carb body, I noticed this as there was a build up oil+dust around both carbs where the shafts exit the body,
I can feel that there is NO play in the shafts surprisingly for the age and mileage, BUT the felt washers seemed a little tired,
Whats the next best practice here?
- Replace the Felt washers?
- Grease the old washers?
- Machine and fit rubber seals?
- Replace felt washers with rubber O-rings?
Whats brought me to this point was the bike runs very rich due to needing to use the WHOLE choke in order to keep it running - climate 24 deg C + Until Warm, then idles without Choke.
Back firing on de-acceleration
Previous owner removed the exhaust Baffles
I've downloaded the Owners Manual for the bike, but doesn't say much about carb servicing except float heights,
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
