SD03 Shock
« on: January 13, 2020, 21:39:29 »
I have an 2011 SD03 ABS Varadero, XL1000VAB. The shock is coming up for 41K miles and I'm thinking it might be a good idea to change it before I go off on a long trip early summer. The Honda part number changes from SD02 to SD03 and for each of these whether it's ABS or not. Seems to be easier to get replacement shocks for SD02s than SD03s? Has anybody fitted an aftermarket shock to an SD03? Can anyone recommend an aftermarket shock?

Hello fairb; sure better to make presentation in the right thread before asking questions ...  ;)
Sure if you make a search (upper right every page of this forum) you can find a lot of answers: wilbers, ohlins, emc ... etc ... can be good choices.  VCIF_salut

Ohlins are expensive in the UK
Try Hagon shock absorbers if you are on a budget.

Check with them shock length and spring to suit yout weight/luggage.

Wilbers -- had one on my last V8 Vero for about 6 years and took it off when i sold the bike --- the shock looked like new after a wipe down + they're rebuildable and come set up for you from the factory [ you input information when ordering] .
If the truth fits---wear it !!!!
