The dreaded SET switch failure
« on: March 20, 2018, 11:27:38 »
So like many other owners, I read on forums that they had issues, my SET switch is stuck pressed and impossible to use it while driving.

The bike stayed for winter outside as I have no garage, I love my AT but honestly can't help fell Honda went a bit cheap on some parts,
never did I have a malfunction or problem on all my Yamahas, it's really a shame !

Will see with the mechanic when giving the bike for the 12'000Km service, hope they can fix it fast !

Wouldn't that be covered under warranty or coulance?  ???

Yes I expect it to be fixed under warranty, because it's a known problem as the spokes are, it's just as shame it happens on such motorcycle
I tried WD40 and pulled it out, but it gets stuck again.

Sorry but what's coulance !?

Is it true that all the Spoke replacements are now on hold while Honda investigate Stainless Steel spokes ?

Not in NZ. They are still replacing spokes here under warranty that are double coated. I am about to get mine done.

According to Honda all new bikes will be fitted with SS spokes :

https://hondanews.eu/eu/en/motorcycles/media/pressreleases/118505/2018-honda-crf1000l-africa-twin

I had read elsewhere that the warranty spoke replacement program  was going to be put on hold pending a move to SS.

My reading of that is the new bikes get the stainless steel spokes, but my 2016 model AT will only get the double plated spokes when I take it in for them to be replaced.

Just letting you know that the switch is working again, maybe the WD40 over time did it's thing don't know, I'll still tell my mechanic when I drop Brunhilde
for the 12'000 service !

Yeah usually it starts working after a while. The new switch is only permanent solution.
