Unlike Jokkmokk, this one is below the Arctic Circle  ::)
Either case, it's going to be a long way up for many  :)

It is all about to find a site that suits all needs for living.

(http://www.storforsen-hotell.se/wp-content/themes/phg/lib/xtimthumb.php,qsrc=,hwww.storforsen-hotell.se,_wp-content,_uploads,_sites,_9,_2013,_07,_storforsenvy.jpg,aw=642,ah=360,azc=1,aq=75,aa=c.pagespeed.ic.KkT2JckjGa.jpg)

Storforsen hotell and camping have that and is located 100 km south from the artic circle. In the area of Norrland they never use the distance measuring due to that is always a long distance wherever you go. It is one stonethrow away or a coffeecook away.

Sweden is divided into three parts. The upper part and cover half of Sweden is called Norrland, Middle called Svealand and south called Götaland.

me & my mate stopped in jokkmokk on way to nordkapp after vcim 16.was very busy place, due to a food festival, so we stopped in a youth hostel as all the hotels were very full .. didn't see much of the place because we arrived late,...... very clean, good food, good welcome...mind you, so were all the other places we stayed in sweden, norway & denmark.

40 attendants expected?
Well, after S France 2015 and Belgium 2016, people will probably fancy again some "Northern Exposure"  ;D Specially in what looks like a really beautiful environment!  :)
Certainly I would! Too bad I most likely can't  :(

Greetings,

Josep

Having the VIM at a potentially cold and certainly a distance place away from the central area of the Varadero community, may well appeal to the dedicated minority who perhaps feel the need to visit such places and have the finances needed, but it will do little to encourage the majority of members who are looking for a nice ride and a jolly weekend with friends to support the VIM.

It is not easy to predict how many that will come and join. Hopefully there is a chance that we will see a lot more Swedes and Finns on Transalps. So 40 international guests, 20 locals or more.

As you can see temperature can vary a lot. It is sad to read that people never been to scandinavia has objections about it.

I will trying my best to fulfill requests about eating some more exiting wildlife cuisine. Probably on one excursion. You never know what will happen..

Now that we have many national Varadero meetings doing so well and welcoming 'foreign' visitors and with Google able to translate many forums, perhaps it is appropriate the International Meeting  should become a minority, some may even say an elitist meeting.

Barry... I don't have a clue where your bragging about... Don't become an old grumpy man.  ???
The (almost) 80 international participants who DID enjoy a wonderful, warm, sunny VCIM in Norway will disagree too.  ;D

Now that I've booked for VCIM 18 it has made me consider VCIM 19. Sweden??!!! Yes, for sure I'm in.
I've been staring at the map of Norway for some weeks now as I intend going up to Nord Kapp in 2017 so I was delighted when I read about VCIM 19 plans an hour ago.
Looking forward to discussing this further at Winterberg.  8)

I will not be surprised if there turns out to be quite a number of us heading further North after VCIM 19. This would be very nice indeed.

Hi,

First of all, I never know before middle of April if I can attend to the VCIM's. My worksituation force me to have 2 weeks vacation to be sure of getting the weekend off.

Perhaps I'm able to join the VCIM 18 just for saturday night and leaving again sunday morning just for discussion of the VCIM#19 with the orga-team

Regarding the Swedish hosting a decision was made while we had our national meeting there. It is to far offside. Nearest petrolstation is 40 km away. Not much to do in the campsite, might be closed in evenings due to tourist season haven't started and for me personally. Organize something that is 1250 km away to have meeting with the staff, get the extra, eye to eye contact etc etc will just give me stress and a heart attack.
(In a matter of fact, I have 1070 km to Winterberg)

It is not easy to find a place in Sweden that have hotel, cottages and a area for tents in walking distance. Will continue investigate and try out a place in south of Sweden this vacation. So can't give an presentation for the VCIM#19 earlier than August this year

As far as I can remember, there are a number of beach resorts in the SW coast of Sweden, not far from your place.

Certainly these would be more convenient for you as organizer and more convenient for the most among those attendants who would just ride back home afterwards. It would lose the appeal of "being in the middle of nowhere", though, whatever this appeal is.  ;D

Too bad I can't attend in either case.  :(  I'd really, really love to.  :)

BTW. You are 500 km closer to Winterberg than I am!  :o

Regards,

Josep

We here in Germany are further than the rest of Europe  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

You have to pay no toll on any road/highway  VCIF_salut. Except trucks have to pay and if you want to go on some private roads you have to pay toll

I have just seen on TV about Rally of Sweden.
They showed a place where they measure how far the cars jump, up to 45 m!

The VCIM place will surely not be over there, but it looks like an interesting spot to know its location. Anybody knows?

Greetings,

Josep

EDIT: I found it. It's named Colin's Crest, 300 km N from Göteborg

A Tribute to Colin McRae. Very close to the Norwegian border and also to the southern ski resorts.
Famous soccer coach Sven-Göran Eriksson is from this neighbourhood.
