Emission system
« on: September 22, 2013, 13:10:40 »
My Varadero 2004 Injection, have a emission system with pipes connected to each cylinder head, and a elaborate system of hoses connected to a "box" in front of the engine.
How does this system work? does it need service? Are there drawings showing the function?

I'd suggest that when you have the bike stripped down you can check the hoses for internal cleanliness and ageing of the rubber.

There's a service manual available "on line" as well as a microfiche type parts manual (sorry, I don't have the links but someone will post them.... 8))
There's always the Haynes manual....

I guess the early Varadero did not have this system, is it possible to remove it?

Hi Horex

With 'earlier' Varadero's you mean perhaps the pre- 2003 MK1 which is carburettor fuelled. It can (in this subject) not be compared with your 2004 MK2 which is fuel injected.

Strange: from 2003 every Varadero released in Germany, had been equipped with an KAT to clean exhaust emissions and save some rare species on the Planet.

I live in The Netherlands, and my 2004 model was NOT equipped with such an device...
