Some traffical and practical informations.

First of all, some important danish traffic rules and informations:

In Denmark we drive in the right side of the road. ;)

The basic speed limits are:

50 km/h (31 mph), in towns.

80 km/h (50 mph), on country roads and main roads.

130 km/h (81 mph), on motorways.

Where there's no other signs, the basic limits are in force.
 

Special/local speed limits:

In towns there can be different speed limits, e.g. in centers at 30 or 40 km/h (18,7 or 25 mph), or on approach roads, 60 or 70 km/h (37,5 or 43,7 mph), but this will be signposted.

On country and main roads there can be 60 or 70 km/h (37,5 or 43,7 mph), if there're some build-up areas along the roads, or other security reasons, this will be signposted too.

Then we have some roads which is neither main roads nor motorways, so called motor-traffic roads. These roads are typically one lane in each direction (sometimes changing between one and two lanes), and have no crossings, just approaches and exits. They have a speed limit of 90, sometimes 100 km/h (56 or 62,5 mph), signposted too.

And the motorways; some sections, mainly curved or with several approaches and exits, has a 110 km/h (68,5 mph), speed limit, and the latest: some shorter, mainly straight, distances has a speed limit of 120 km/h (75 mph), these are signposted too.

Speed cameras; 11 places around in Denmark there's recently been established "nesting boxes"...



...and there's a widespread use of mobile speed cameras all over the country...



... sometimes with remote equipment so that they can hide the car ::).



Typically the mobile speed cameras are placed on approach roads in towns or on straight main roads, but despite rumors that they can measure motorcycles too, I've never seen a fine from a speed camera given to a motorcyclist.


The maximum limit of alcohol when driving is 0,5 ‰.

It's mandatory to have the light on all day, but just the low beam in daylight.

The only payroads we have in Denmark, are the Storebælts-bridge (between Fyn and Zealand), and the Øresunds-bridge (between Denmark and Sweden).
