Title: set switch
Post by: MrKiwi on March 10, 2017, 00:50:09
I'm hearing in other Africa Twin forums that Honda is providing replacement parts for faulty set switches. It's not a recall, and owners need to ask their dealer about it.

I have not had any problems yet, but it is on my list to keep an eye on.

Same here. No problems so far. Just keeping this information in my mind.

I'm not seeing quite so much of this appearing lately on other forums. Anyone had problems with the set switch on 2017 models?   I'm wondering if Honda have modified the switches at source and the newer ones are being installed on 2017 units.

2017 models have been changed , difficult to explain in English, but they have make more space between contacts , not to have electric arc. The problem (on some bikes,) is difficulty to start the bike .
Dealer says he change mine (preventively) on next 24 000 service .

Thanks!  Pretty sure Honda will sort out most of the initial issues.

Thanks for the update! (http://www.honda-adventure-riders.com/Themes/default/images/post/thumbup.gif)

Out of interest.  When was the current (Stuck) set button last installed?

I have now two changed. Later one is supposed to be improved version.

It happens if you ride or park your bike in rain. But in Nordic countries I had no problem, one rainy day in France and it got jammed. Must be the toxic rain?

I've ridden in the rain quite a bit on my AT, our rain must be clean. Auckland rain (where my friend lives) must be like France's  ;D

Hi girls and gents,

Since driving during heavy raining last few days I now also have a stuck set button.
Will contact the dealer later on, or is someone of you having a quick DIY (do it yourself) solution?

Greetings,
Bruvex

As it seems to be a known problem at Honda, and if they do not change it previously; sure they do at your dealer; try WD40 can offently be a solution on contact's problem ...

When it is dry it will start working again :)

Mine was changed twice, second one was the improved version and no more problems.

Thanks Jyrays,

If it continues to happen I will try to get a new one from my dealer for free.
Seems to me that there are enough people who had problems with it.
Maybe Honda (or my dealer) will make a nice gesture.

It was first year fix list, usually they changed without asking.
