Noise like a DC-3 on take off!
« on: August 07, 2013, 00:43:32 »
Hello!

My bike started to make a noise like a DC-3 on take off! No, really...its like a blowing exhaust and comes from the middle of the bike!

I know from the UK forum that might be a head gasket (http://www.honda-varadero-uk.org/forum/index.php?topic=8941.0)

As I don't have the time this month to fix that (if that is the cause), will it damage the bike in any way if I ride it every day?

Thanks for your replies in advance!

I would not take the bike out for long distances. The air in- and outtake (exhaust) are carefully tuned on to eachother to provide the best possible circumstances under which the engine can do its work. Its not such a big repair. Take the VW clamp, and in stead of one gasket use 2 which are partly placed over eachother. Install the clamp (or the bronce piece manufactured by Stewart 'SB') and its done.
