Back to the saddle
« on: September 23, 2023, 16:22:36 »
Hello friends

Back in 2016 I decided to quit riding. Together with the pain of the accident, I felt I had done on a bike most I ever meant to do.
Since then, I've ridden occasionally my son's 125 and twice my old Varadero, which I borrowed from my generous friend Carles, her current owner.
Of course, this included my attendance to this year's VIM.  VCIF_salut
I realized that some things (like riding in England  ;D) are great to be done AGAIN.

With time I decided I'd better get a new bike. Finally I picked a brand new AT1100DCT yesterday.

This morning I went for a short ride. Here are a couple of pics.

Greetings,

Josep

great to see you back on a saddle (and yours); for the bike, you've not done any error; I just come back from the 48 000 (really 49755) service with mine after our Irish travel ; only good vibrations with this bike; impatient to see it (her) in the real life ;)  VCIF_ThumbUp  VCIF_salut

Thank you guys!

Today I could go for another short ride around Cornudella de Montsant (pics below), just to get a few first impressions.

What a toy! I feel like I can do anything to her. She is lighter than both my old Varadero and Crosstourer, but it also feels like the weight is more centered. When tackling bends, she reminds me my old Dominator (just tilt her more than your body without hesitation).

DCT is not as precise as manual, of course, but this one shifts gears quite much as I do (down in S mode and up in D mode). Today I have amended DCT choices when necessary with the flaps, because for some reason the pedal doesn't work (I will complain!).

She claims she is not much thirsty, and her tank is enough to go beyond 250 km. I will see.
In the past I remember that my Varadero MK2 (2004) needed more gasoline than your ones beyond the Pyrenees, unless it was me who was beyond the Pyrennes (my consumption then got reduced). I never knew if it was because our gasoline was poorer or because I rode differently when in Europe (with wife on the bike  ;) ).

Thoughts on comfort, wind protection, brakes, or electronics or ... I may share in the future.

Greetings to all,

Josep

Hopefully.
I needn't borrow a bike this time. ;D
Besides I can make it from home to VIM site with no stop in between   8)
Winterberg was farther N  ::) but I had more bhp (and fewer years in my body) back then   ;D

Indeed!  ;D

Let me point out that the good part of the pic is around 75% to the right. And it is no ugly guy or vehicle!  :)

Greetings

Josep
