you can't have the top case forward of where it is otherwise it sits on the pillion seat. It's main job is to hold light but bulky gear. The rear bracket is plenty strong enough.

Top case is too big, is a high probability that it will fall on larger potholes. The rear trunk is somewhat delicate, 3 times lessstrong  than at the varadero. (At manual - 10 kg brutto weight max), and look that Your topcase has the center of gravity  too far back

Maybe its to help with wheelies !  ::)
My initials are GS but I  ride a Crosstourer.

Finally, after three months of waiting the Touratech lower engine guards and the LED fog lights have arrived.

Just way to slow from TT. Not sure I will go with them again.

These will be fitted next week, as the fitment was part of my purchase deal. Will post a pic of the bike when done as this is the last of the farkling for this bike.

I gave up on waiting for my Touratech led lights to arrive so bought some Denali dual density lights for my bike (I'll keep the touratech lights when they finally come and will fit them to the transalp.)

Pictures below
Fitted but not on

Fitted with head lights dipped (LEDs run at 40% intensity)

Fitted with headlights on high beam (LEDs run at 100% intensity)

The farkling continues.

The TomTom 450 GPS I used recently in Europe on Red is now also fitted to my AT. I bought two wiring looms when buying the GPS (well actually Two Plugs did the buying on my behalf, such a nice chap he is, I just keep sending him money  ;D ).

I have also fitted an ATO rear rack, replacing the OEN rear rack. I went for a ride on Sunday and my wife commented that the bike is so much easier to get on and off without the big OEM handles impeding her. She even went so far as to say it was money well spent. Now that's an endorsement, I've never heard her say that before  :o ;D ;D .

Pictures show why it is easier, the ATO rack has much smaller pillion handles

On Thursday I am replacing the rear suspension, the aim is to raise the weight carrying capacity form the max limit recommended by Honda of 194 kgs to the weight I need for two up touring with gear - 220 kgs.

I had two choices, either buy a heavier spring and revalve the OEM rear suspension or replace it. I have chosen to replace it. I looked at Wilbers, Nitron and Ohlins and decided to go with Ohlins. The set up is being done by NZ's top suspension guru so hopefully this will lead to an improvement in the bike's handling with two up plus luggage.

After that just extra fuel capacity to think about...
