to only get 300 kms before the reserve light comes on with a 25 litre tank on a 2008 Varadero suggests something is not quite right.

Spirited riding on roads with frequent speed changes & braking could result in 370km before the light comes on at approx 20L used.

What Koeno (and others) don't tell us is how much fuel it takes to refill the tank once the light has come on !

The low fuel level detector is a thermistor that detects when it is not longer submerged (or being splashed ) by fuel. It doesn't take much imagination to realise that its not going to be that accurate or repeatable.

When I fuel up as soon as the fuel light pops on, she takes 21L. But I have this habit of pushing the bikes fuel capacity to the limits every now and than...  ;D

Best to take an extra bottle of gasoline... I don't want to push the varadero to the nearest gas station :p

Your fuel consumption is typical from an MKII (early injected), so not for a 2008.
Does your Varadero *really* have integrated rear indicators?  ;D ;D

Enjoy your bike,

Josep

Integrated rear indicators, and a little (lockable) compartiment in the fairing.

Today the new mivv exhausts will arrive,
and I'm going to make an appointment to optimize the varadero with a powercommander...
I know that some people say that voor the 2008-vara this is not needed, but I'm taking the "risk"

Edit: I changed the url to a link, didn't notice the image was this big: Sorry!

nice lights, and I'm intrigued with the little lockable compartment in the rear faring, I've never seen that before.

compartment in the rear fairing?
I'm talking bout the "cockpit-fairing"  VCIF_ThumbUp

ah well, next week the Varadero will get his mivv-exhausts, powercommander and suspension-upgrade...
let's hope the pc and exhausts will help a bit

Yep silly me, I quickly looked at the picture of the lights and thought I saw a key socket. Should have paid more attention!
