Out of my memory (I disconnected from the TA world in May 2004  ;D ), I think it had a certain popularity in Greece.

I wasn't aware that this meant-for-Japan version had been sold in any other European country.  :)

The Transalp was 1987-2012 built in four different models:
 
ND models with 400 cc ND06 - XL400V - model years 1992 to 1994, only in the Far East, production in Japan
 
PD models with 600 cc
  PD06 - XL600V - model years from 1987 to 1996,
    special model United States from 1989 to 1990,
    from 1994 as amended Panel PD10, manufacturing in Japan
  PD10 - XL600V - model years 1997 to 1999 with dual disc brakes front and manufacturing in Italy
 
RD models with 650 cc
  RD10 - XL650V - model years 2000 to 2001, completely revised, manufacturing in Italy
  RD11 - XL650V - model years 2002 to 2006, production in Spain
 
RD models with 680 cc
  RD13 - XL700V - model years 2007-2009, production in Spain
  RD15 - XL700V - model years 2010-2012, production in Italy

It was never sold in The Netherlands, but I know about the existence. Two members of the Dutch Transalpclub drove two XL400V's from Japan over land back home to Amsterdam.

That's a great link for the history of the bike, especially the description of the main points of difference between the model series.
