Mk1 OEM Panniers cases
« on: March 21, 2019, 02:34:16 »
Hello folks,

Left field question, but does any one happen to know if the Mk1 Varadero OEM saddle bags/panniers, as seen here https://www.cmsnl.com/honda-xl1000v-varadero-1999-x-european-direct-sales_model6475/partslist/08L5501.html#.XJLJISj7SuU were also fitted to the Transalp '87 to '92 model? I have a recollection of seeing these panniers on a Transalp in the past, but maybe I'm dreaming!

Thanks for any help.

Answering my own question  ;D...

Saddle bags are interchangeable between Mk1 Varadero and Transalp 650. But not 600  :(

Unless anyone has any bright ideas about remodeling the saddle bag stays to fit an XL600  VCIF_a_008

Cheers all, OAO

Probably a no go. The original panniers of the XL600V Transalp where made by Hebco & Becker and a-symetrical due to the one side exhaust muffler; where the panniers from the MK1 Varadero where symetrical (double exhaust mufflers).

I would suggest an after marked pannierset which are interchangeable. You only need to buy a new rack if you change bike. There are good alternatives, even used.
