Finally, it happened... the XLV750R on which I have been working for the last 5-6 years (with some delay... started in 2006) is now close to be finished. The engine has run for the very first time... with a red jerry can as temporally fueltank.. and it did run sooo smooth!

A few minor things remain as last final frontier:

- Re-installing the fuel tank and fuel hoses
- Re-installing all the body panels and saddle
- And... carefully run-in the newly reassembled engine, taking it easy for the first 1.000-1.500 km!

I'm planning to have a 'first flight' by the end of this month / early August.
I'm going to make a finall report here as soon as the bike is back on the road.

Hopefully, it will look like this brochure after its completion:

And... like the RF version I already own:

After 5 years with lots of delay, today it was the big moment... The '83 Honda XLV750R RD01 is back home and I have done the first miles on it!

Some pics to share, together with my original '85 black Honda XV750R RF:

Enjoy!

How much do you ask for either?  ;D

Congratulations, Bernard, it's nice to have something classic back to its former useability.

Regards,

Josep

It won't be used in any Dakar, anymore, Josep! Not now, and not in the future... I'm simply to proud on the result!  ;D

Great results!  I'm sure the long wait was worth it in the end.

Finally!!! Finally I got my hands on the PRO-LINK decalls for the rearfork. And best part... I could order them through a Dutch supplier:

Nice. Saw your stickers on FB, the above link doesn't work. It may be a regional restriction?

Think I must have bought the last 3 remaining sets... and now they ran out!
They are slightly bigger than the originals, but close enough to provide the original view.
By the way... got the front suspension of Granny I also upgraded. Rear was already replaced for the Wilbers unit, now I've got two progressive springs and spacers in the front as well.
Going to pick her up by the end of this week!

Nice, new suspension all round, you'll notice the difference.
