That new KTM 1290 is what the Varadero should have been years ago, If and when I win the Lottery it would be in my garage, Of course next to my Vara. :D..

Buy a KTM, need an ATM.

Its priced above € 20.000,- in the Netherlands which is absurd knowing (my Honda agent is also KTM agent) that you need another jackpot to pay for maintenance.

maintenance intervals for new KTMs is improving, but the cost of parts, particularly in this part of the world, requires the ATM.

I like the idea of the 1290.  The long range fuel tank, reasonably light compared to the Varadero and the CT, good gravel manners and excellent on road (tarseal) credentials makes this an interesting bike.  However, I'm not sure I would need all that horsepower.  The 1190 was powerful enough, just didn't quite have the range I would want.  Having siad that, it's fuel range is better than my CT, by some margin!
